You gotta hand it to the mainstream news media. It picks and chooses which tragic story should be covered. A terrorist attack in France caught their attention like a lightning bolt. However, in another part of the world, more horrific series of events ravaged a community and paralyzed a nation. But according to them, over 2,000 Nigerians murdered was not as important as about a dozen French people.
The Guardian reports:
France spent the weekend coming to terms last week’s terror attacks in Paris which left 17 dead. The country mourned and global leaders joined an estimated 3.7 million people on its streets to march in a show of unity.
In Nigeria, another crisis was unfolding, as reports came through of an estimated 2000 casualties after an attack by Boko Haram militants on the town of Baga in the northeastern state of Borno. Amnesty International described as the terror group’s “deadliest massacre” to date, and local defence groups said they have given up counting the bodies left lying on the streets.
Reporting in northern Nigeria is notoriously difficult, journalists have been targeted by Boko Haram, and, unlike in Paris, people on the ground are isolated and struggle with access to the internet and other communications. Attacks by Boko Haram have disrupted connections further, meaning that there is an absence of an online community able to share news, photos and video reports of news as it unfolds.
But reports of the massacre were coming through and as the world’s media focused its attention on Paris, some questioned why they were almost ignored.
Nothing can explain or excuse something as typical as this other than the old race card. Black Africans’ lives, much like black Americans’ lives, are worth virtually nothing, unless you want to do another “Save the Children” infomercial and use the continent’s poorest sections to fool Westerners into giving money for starving children and simultaneously trick viewers into thinking that the whole place is a poverty-stricken, disease-ridden hellhole due to absolutely nothing.
That’s right. The only time you hear about Africa most of the time in the mainstream media is during those lame commercials where a white person – always a white person begs and pleads that you call and sponsor an African child for less than a cup of coffee. Maybe that’s why you have white celebrities adopting African children left and right.
We cannot count on the news media to deliver, at least not all the time or even part of the time. There must be media outlets that cover all stories of this caliber, and thank goodness, there are such sources that you can count on not only reporting such events but question the mainstream’s failure to do the same.

2015 will be upon us, unless you’ve read this post after New Year’s. But looking back in the year 2014, it was definitely a wild ride with more loops to go through.
We lost several famous people along the way. We lost James Avery and Juanita Moore when the year started on a ridiculously cold note due to that thing known as the polar vortex. You know, the time when everything was much colder than usual and conservatives considered it proof that there’s no such thing as global warming.
Then, there was the whole Chris Christie scandal and that situation with the Washington Bridge. It was on the news for a while, but I guess it’s no longer an issue, at least for the New Jersey mayor.
I guess people were more hyped about the Seattle Seahawks going to the Super Bowl with Richard Sherman leading the charge in the most scary-to-most-white-people way when he trashed talked like a WWE wrester on national TV. People, mostly racists, considered that “thug” behavior. We all know why that is. But even if he was “respectable” like Forrest Whitiker’s role in the movie The Butler, racist fuckers would still find a reason to hate on Sherman. A black man, especially a father doing the damn thing like combing his daughter’s hair can never win in this shithole of a society. If assholes like Ted Nugent can take a shit on the legacy of Dr. King, they can screw over any black person. Or they would prefer to find the less reputable of us like that video of a toddler cursing up a storm while adults got their chuckles on and consider that as “black culture”.
That gave rise to the media sensation of the so-called “knockout games” where a few black youth would literally knock down random people in the street. Media reporting got so bad that you have people like Ashley Depew “creating” nonexistent black suspects to cover up those who actually fucked them up.
The hatred of black men is evident among America’s “finest” as it seems like we’ve seen a spike of cop killings this year alone. We’ve lost Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Akai Gurley, Eric Garner, John Crawford and Yvette Smith, Tanesha Anderson and God knows who else. And those responsible such as the pigs that murdered Aiyana Standley-Jones, Michael Brown and Tamir Rice were able to walk away thanks to a racist injustice system.
Cops like Darren Wilson, Jeffery Follmer and apparently, hundreds of cops nationwide have that police privilege that immunes them from any responsibility when they abuse or kill anyone, including unarmed black folks. They think that they’re just doing their job and everything would be cool if people would just cooperate. And if they get their asses beat, that’s all on them.
Out of that chaos sprang a movement that demands that black lives be given the respect and dignity that is only afforded to white people. One man by the name of Ismaaiyl Brinsley took it to fatal extremes executing two cops after shooting his girl and before taking his own life. And the media saw fit to link him to the movement.
Speaking of the media and its shenanigans, have you noticed how black victims are treated poorly as compared to white suspects? If not, lots of people did. It seems white people are basically good folks, but a few – according to the same media – have glitches that cause them to go haywire in the most violent way possible. Such was the case of Elliot Rodger, the misogynistic, racist, overprivileged fool who shot up Isla Vista in California or Bradley William Stone, the guy who shot six people in Pennsylvania before killing himself. And let’s not forget the pumpkin madness caused by young whites over something stupid or the usual Halloween racists who still haven’t gotten the moment that people of color are not costumes. All while showing the world they didn’t care too much for the numerous African women kidnapped earlier this year.
White people, particularly those of the famous variety, continued to show off their privileges and racism this year. Iggy Azalea, Ridley Scott (Well, Hollywood in general for producting such tripe like Blended, Noah and Exodus), Donald Sterling, Tal Fortgang, Anthony Cumia (One-half of the former duo Opie and Anthony), the dudes who frequent on websites like 4chan, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, the fools who went to poor black neighborhoods pranking poor blacks and almost getting their asses whooped on and, of course, xPrae continue to deny white privilege while actively perpetuating, participating, producing and promoting it.
We also saw black shame from the media. Ray Rice (and a few other black athletes that caught the attention of TMZ which caught the attention of other news outlets), Solange and yes, Bill Cosby have made the news for all the wrong reasons that threaten negative stereotypes. Ray Rice beat his wife. Solange beat Jay-Z. And Cosby’s accused of beating up the pu…well, I won’t go there, but you know what I mean. He’s accused of being a serial rapist. Then there’s the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Love and Hip Hop and the scourge known as Sorority Sisters. Does Mona Scott hate black people?
We lost a lot of notable people this year. We lost James Avery, Robin Williams, The Ultimate Warrior, Marion Berry, Big Bank Hank of the Sugar Hill Gang, Buster Jones, Joan Rivers, Meshach Taylor, Bobby Womack, Casey Kasem, Ruby Dee, Chester Nez, Yuri Kochiyama, Dr. Maya Angelou, Bob Hoskins, DJ E-Z Rock, Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Karyn Washington, Frankie Knuckles and Chokwe Lumumba,
However, we’ve seen a lot of great things this year. Shonda Rhimes wows audiences with her new show How to Get Away with Murder starring Viola Davis. We saw the release of Blackish starring Anthony Anderson and Tracey Ellis Ross. We see Michael Sam showing the world that being gay is a beautiful thing. We saw young black women and men being overachievers, geniuses, entrepreneurs, activists, defying stereotypes and doing the damn thing. And we will, without a doubt, see more of that in 2015.
What do you remember most about 2014? What do you remember that I’ve missed in this article? What do you hope to see in 2015? Sound off below and I’ll see you next year.
P.S. I may create my own website.

On Wednesday, Discovery Channel confirmed the network has canceled its docu-series “Sons of Guns.” The news comes two weeks after TMZ reported that the show’s star, Will Hayden, was arrested in Louisiana on child molestation charges involving his 12-year-old daughter. Although he was released after posting bail, Hayden was arrested again on Tuesday with an added charge of alleged aggravated rape of a child.
“Given the serious and horrific nature of the charges against Will Hayden, we have decided to halt further production of ‘Sons of Guns’ and cancel the series,” the network said in a statement Wednesday.
At 9pm last Tuesday, 44-year-old Chinese doctor, Wu Youzhong, went to investigate the sound of breaking glass outside his home in Coleraine, County Londonderry, in Northern Ireland. When he arrived at his front door, he saw that the window had been smashed. An intruder then attacked him so violently that he had to be admitted to hospital for several days, and required consultation from an eye specialist. Dr Wu’s wife, Luo Ruoyin, said, “I heard he was just screaming in pain and I was scared. He was just holding his head and covering his eyes and blood was just running down everywhere.” The police are treating the attack as racially motivated; the couple, who have a two-year-old daughter, are reported to be intending to move away from the area.
It was this past Tuesday when a woman suffered a heart attack behind the wheel and drove her car into Cobbs Creek in Southwest Philadelphia.
The victim, Cheryl Allison, is still in the hospital, but three Good Samaritans were honored for helping to save her.
You’re not just imagining things. The local news media’s intense focus on violent crime is also deeply racialized, at least if New York City’s media market is indicative of national trends.
Media Matters reviewed the 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts of four New York-area stations over the course of this summer and compared their crime stories to arrest data from the New York Police Department. In a report released Aug. 26, the watchdog group found black suspects in crime stories far outweigh their actual representation in arrests—which is saying something, since we also know arrests themselves are racially skewed, with black people representing far more arrests for, say, marijuana possession than drug-use rates suggest is appropriate.
It was bad enough that Ferguson police left Michael Brown’s dead body in plain sight on a residential street for more than four hours after Darren Wilson shot and killed the unarmed 18-year-old. But what police did the evening of August 9 gives us a better understanding of why Ferguson’s black community was even further enraged.
In an article over at Mother Jones, Mark Follman explains how police officers disrespected the still bloodstained spot where Brown was gunned down. It’s unclear which police department was responsible, but according to witnesses, one unit allowed their K-9 dog to urinate directly on the memorial site.
Lifetime’s new show Girlfriend Intervention is not subtle about its message. Its premise is four black women giving a makeover to a white woman on the theory that, as they put it, “Trapped inside of every white girl is a strong black woman ready to bust out.”

A suburban Detroit man who insisted he killed an unarmed woman on his porch in self-defense was convicted of second-degree murder Thursday after the jury rejected his tearful claim that he fired through a screen door in the wee hours because he feared his life was at risk.
No one knows why Renisha McBride ended up at the Dearborn Heights home of Theodore Wafer last Nov. 2, although prosecutors speculated that the 19-year-old woman may have been confused and seeking help, hours after she had crashed her car blocks away. An autopsy found she was extremely drunk.
Two Tulsa, Oklahoma police officers were arrested Tuesday night in connection with a deadly shooting.
Shannon Kepler, 54, and his wife Gina Kepler, 48, were taken into custody regarding the death of 19-year-old Jeremy Lake, a black teen who was dating their daughter.
Marques Brownlee is just 20 years old, but there’s arguably no one better on the internet when it comes to explaining new technologies to the average consumer. Even former Google VP Vic Gundotra called him “the best technology reviewer on the planet right now.”
YouTubers have taken notice of the young man: Brownlee’s YouTube channel “MKBHD” has more than 1.5 million subscribers and nearly 130 million total views on his 640-plus videos.
To reach their conclusions, Hetey and Eberhardt conducted two experiments involving white subjects. In the first, white people were asked to watch one of two videos containing mug shots. In one video, 25 percent of the mug shots were pictures of black men, while in the other video, 45 percent of the mug shots depicted African American males. After watching the video, the subjects were then asked whether they would sign a petition calling for one of California’s strict sentencing laws to be eased.
The result: “Over half of the participants who’d seen the mug shots with fewer black men signed the petition, whereas only 27 percent of people who viewed the mug shots containing a higher percentage of black inmates agreed to sign.”
1. Where the jobs went.
Outsourcing (or offshoring) is a bigger contributor to unemployment in the U.S. than laziness.
Since 2000, U.S. multinationals have cut 2.9 million jobs here while increasing employment overseas by 2.4 million. This is likely just the tip of the iceberg as multinational corporations account for only about 20 percent of the labor force.
When was the last time you saw a front-page headline about outsourcing?
2. Upward wealth redistribution and/or inequality.
In 2010, 20 percent of the people held approximately 88 percent of the net worth in the U.S. The top one percent alone held 35 percent of all net worth.
The bottom 80 percent of people held only 12 percent of net worth in 2010. In 1983, the bottom 80 percent held 18 percent of net worth.
These statistics are not Democrat or Republican. They are widely available to reporters. Why aren’t they discussed in the “liberal” media?
When Inmate H, a teenager serving time at New York’s Rikers Island, fell asleep during a class, a female corrections officer wrapped metal handcuffs around her fist and hit him in the ribcage to rouse him. The tactic worked – Inmate H woke abruptly and shouted an obscenity at the officer. For this, he was: dragged into the corridor; punched in the eye; kicked in the face, head and back repeatedly by multiple officers; kicked in the mouth; and pepper-sprayed directly into the eyes. While the horror show was unfolding, two teachers inside the classroom reported that they heard the young prisoner screaming out, crying for his mother.
Just as Rivers made headlines a few weeks ago for ranting about how the Palestinians “started it” to TMZ cameramen, she again shouted her opinions at them yesterday when confronted at the Los Angeles Airport. “When you declare war, you declare war. They started it. We now don’t count who’s dead. You’re dead, you deserve to be dead,” she yelled, offering no sympathy for the civilians who have died in Gaza, including children. “At least the ones who were killed, were the ones with very low IQs,” she said.
During a Wednesday edition of his little-watched Fox Business show, noted xenophobe Lou Dobbs decided to engage in one of the conservative movement’s favorite activities of the Obama era: projecting their own obsession with his race onto the president.
While this is always a bad idea, Dobbs’ move was, this time, especially ill-considered, considering it came in the midst of what was supposed to be a discussion of Obama’s much-hyped Africa summit.
Noting that Obama was asked about the experimental anti-Ebola drug that was reportedly used to save two American missionaries, Dobbs complained that the question “implicitly” challenged why the drug was used to help two white people instead of the many black Africans stricken with the virus.

On the anniversary of his death, there was a lot of remembrance for the late John F. Kennedy. Many of the news programs and cable outlets did countless tributes. They also focused on his alleged killer, the just-as-late Lee Harvey Oswald. The 8 minute film shot by a man named Abraham Zapruder who just happen to be there that day running his little millimeter camera created an image that has been watched and debated on for decades now. I for one, however, have absolutely no interest or desire to salute the legacy of John or any Kennedy for that matter.
A while ago, I wrote a post criticizing the Kennedys and their volatile relationship with the late Dr. Martin Luther King. And Brotha wrote a post trashing beloved and admired Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. That got me to thinking about how certain white male public figures throughout history who have been glorified, in spite of the dirty little underbelly beneath their surface. It’s like that old saying; if you were to randomly lift up a rock, you’ll be very surprised by what you find under it.
Yet, with a number of celebrated white male denizens of the past, I probably wouldn’t be that shocked at all to find out what just what type of asshole they really were. I always find it exceedingly interesting that a lot of the white people who tell black people to stop living in the past have no qualms whatsoever doing that very thing when they are waxing nostalgic about some revered white male who is famous, not one time ever mentioning how utterly despicable he was. From politicians to aviators, authors to rock stars, white folks, particularly those in the media, love to go back in time wearing the most rose colored of lenses. They never want to see their heroes for who they really were. Mind you, these are the same folks who never let one minute pass to remind us Negroes how messed up and shitty our celebrities are.
Famed flyboy Charles Lindbergh made no secret of his full support for the Nazis, even at one time saying how America should just back out of the war and let them rule over the United States so they could get rid of – in his words – ‘the more inferior blood of the country’. Yeah, guess whose stamp I won’t be buying or using when it’s handed to me at the post office. I’ll just ask for somebody else.
Same thing goes for the aforementioned Columbus. What Brotha didn’t mention was that Columbus also encouraged his men, who were infected, to pass the disease on to the Native women they were having sex with. That way, they could pass whatever they caught on to their men. Talk about your role model!
He’s almost as bad as the white males on the face of Mount Rushmore like Washington and Jefferson who declared all men equal while owning other human beings as cattle. Or one time president Harry Truman who once said that, and I quote, “Any man is a good man as long as he’s not a ni**er or a Chinaman”. Remember, these males were once elected officials making rules and laws that affected a lot of people, many of whom were the very ni**ers and Chinese folks that he claimed were no good.
Speaking of presidents who didn’t have black people’s back, there was one show talking about Kennedy that I did watch. It’s an amazing show called “African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross”, hosted by Louis Gates. On one episode Mr. Gates was having multiple conversations with people that participated in the freedom riders movement. He showed videos of them preparing for the hostility that they would face trying to integrate lunch counters in the South. There were also pictures of some of the sadistic violence that they experienced while in Alabama, as well as other states.
A former staffer of Kennedy’s said that the president didn’t want to send National Guard troops to protect the protesters, even after countless requests and being told many times that they needed outside protection, since most of the law enforcement in those towns was just as dangerous to the safety of the bus travelers as the bolder racists. According to him, despite the fact that Kennedy had been warned of the impending threat, he didn’t want to be bothered. Kennedy felt that those brave souls fighting for change were an annoying nuisance. He had more important things to worry about than a bunch of foolhardy Negroes who should have known better anyway. Kennedy seemed to think that if they did go ahead as planned then they brought it on themselves. Don’t forget that Kennedy is the very same person who appointed his brother Robert as head of the CIA and gave authorization for him to wiretap Dr. King.
There was also the absolutely shameful way he treated performer Sammi Davis Jr. Yet, for some inexplicable reason, many black folks still think of him as some kind of savior like they do with former president Bill Clinton, even while he flat out refused to send troops to war torn African countries such as the Sudan, Darfur, South Africa and Rwanda. He, however, made sure all the white people stuck there had a way out though. Then again, many white presidents have put on a good show for the masses while behaving differently behind closed doors.
Woodrow Wilson thought nothing of having a showing of that D.W Griffith garbage “Birth of a Nation” at the White House. I wonder if Hollyworthless will do a film about how the black help of Wilson’s felt being so extremely disrespected. Doubtful, seeing how even leaders who weren’t worth their weight in dogshit are thought of as exceptional human beings. It really should depend on who you ask. So, I don’t think they’ll be asking anybody that would disagree. Bottom line is they don’t want to know the truth. They would rather be greeted on Fantasy Island by Mr. Roark and Tattoo.
The following is a response to an article I wrote entitled “Bad and Sexy“. I wrote about the internet popularity of the now-infamous mugshot of Jeremy Meeks. My article got the attention of a lurker who goes by the name Keith Essien who dropped a lot of sexist and misogynist deuces. I asked him point blank if he hated women, and did he think he was a good man? This is his response:
I will admit. I hate women with EVERY FIBER of my being and that hatred comes from the very pit of my soul.
I would love to see these sassy, arrogant, self entitled, women who in regards to men have a deep BBD (Bigger, Better, Deal) mentality, you know they all think, they can get someone better.
I would love to see these same women in the west, go over to my parents country (Nigeria) or any Muslim country like Saudia Arabia or Iraq and go down and talk down to the men over there
Go on ladies, go to Nigeria and talk down to the brothers over there…go on…go try…go try….I DARE YOU…..but if you do, please be prepared to be taken outside have the S**T kicked out you, get ready to beaten to within inch of your life if you try to run your mouth over here.
Elliot Rodger ? To me. I love him. Arrest me. I’m not happy at what he did, nor am i sad. I don’t care. Maybe women will for once see where men are coming from
MORE WOMEN WILL DIE UNLESS YOU GIVE MEN OPTIONS
The irony with women is that
They are not special.
They are not gorgeous.
They are not brilliant.
They are not sophisticated.
Most will never do anything special or influential in their entire lives ! I’m also sick and tired of how picky women are.
What gives them the right ?
I’ve also learned another thing this to the guys
Never F**KING lower your standards.
Ugly girls are just as snooty and arrogant as good looking ones. You may as well get rejected by a decent looking girl, because there is really NOTHING like asking out a girl you’d have to close your eyes to F**K and hearing she doesn’t have time for you.
When girls say “Maybe you should go for a plain girl” or “Ugly girl”
Don’t F**KING listen to them !!!!! Stop listening to whatever they have to say !!! and just walk away. Because they’re F**KING LYING !! IT’S NOT TRUE!!! UGLY GIRLS ARE NOT LESS PICKY !!!
Misogynists are not born, they are made. Hating women is the only thing I have left to do. I’m too good to respond with violence or anything so trite and barbaric. I’m above it and beyond it. I AM A BETTER MAN !!
Indeed, I’ve given up the idea of ever having a woman as a part of my romantic life.
I’m a MISOGYNIST. I declare it, not proudly, but without shame. I refuse to accept the shame that women have tried to place upon me. I’m a MISOGYNIST, without apology to anyone. I’m a MISOGYNIST, from now until women show themselves worthy of something better than hatred. I’m a MISOGYNIST from now until the day I die.
At least he’s honest, as far as honesty goes on the internet. Commenters have gracefully checked his attitude, and I will attempt to do the same.
Keith, it’s sad that you harbor this much hatred for women. It’s even sadder that you justify it and spread your hate to all of them when we probably can guess that you’ve encountered only a handful in regards to the entire female population.
Let me be real, because I’m I’m speaking from experience. I’ve been hurt by women myself. I’ve been used, yelled at, made fun of and even hit by quite a few women growing up. I kept getting chosen as a target by certain girls in high school and college. In fact, I even resented those who overlooked me or didn’t give me the same attention they gave other guys.
So, I started disliking them. I started not to trust them. I had a lot of anger in my heart for the whole female gender, all because of a few rotten apples.
I turned into a sexist. I insulted women that I suspected was doing me wrong a.k.a. didn’t do what they say they will do or didn’t treat me as they did my friends.
Do I still have this pain in my heart? Yes! Do I still have problems trusting women? Yes! I won’t front. However, what good will hating women do in the end? What good will it bring you, especially if you excuse violence against them?
You talk about Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq using violence to keep women in line. Any nation or society that allows and advocates violence against women is not keeping them in line. They are keeping them down. It is no different than a racist nation that institutes violence against people of color.
Let’s be clear. Elliot Rodger was a spoiled bastard with an entitlement complex. Do some research and you will see that he’s no gentlemen. And assuming you are a black male, you will find he wasn’t too fond of brothas hooking up with white women. I even mentioned it in an article I wrote here. This guy that you ‘love’ hates ‘inferior black boys’.
You have so much animosity towards women it’s almost limitless and entirely ridiculous. You say they are not special, gorgeous, brilliant, sophisticated or influential. You say they don’t have the right to be picky. Yet, you warn men not to lower their standards. That’s an obvious double standard. How come they should settle for anything and we shouldn’t? That’s male privilege talking, and believe it or not, you’re dead drunk with it.
I agree that misogynists are not born but made. But when it’s all said and done, it comes down to choice. You chose to be a misogynist because you don’t want to give up the hate. You say that’s all you have left to do, but that’s a cop out. You want to hate women for reasons only you know.
And I doubt that every single woman you’ve known did you wrong. I can tell you from my own experience that the ones that did me dirty were few in comparison to the many beautiful, sweet women I’ve known in my life. I realized it was unfair to paint them all with a bad brush. And it would be foul if you did the same.
So, if you want to be a misogynist, knock yourself out, son. I can’t change your mind. But heed my words, this hate that you have will kick your ass if you don’t let go, and you will have no one to truly blame but yourself. Women have hurt you. That’s clear. But you can either hold on to it and let it eat you away inside, or you can man up, stop whining and let that shit go. It’s your choice.
But if you choose the former, you will no longer be welcomed in my den.

by Lavern Merriweather
There is a new movie out starring perennially cute couple Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore called “Blended”. It’s apparently a rip-off of the Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball classic “Yours, Mine and Ours” about two previously married-with-children people coming together. In many of the trailer scenes, Drew and Adam have taken their respective offspring on a trip to Africa where I guess the fun and frolic will really begin.
Now, I’m not a fan of either Sandler or Drew. I think that Sandler is an overrated overpaid fool and Drew basically plays the same woman in every film that she does. And judging from the looks of this latest disaster, I doubt my opinion will change anytime soon. You think with all the liberal claptrap coming from white folks in Hollywood, there would be some attempt – any attempt – to revert from the ways of the ‘golden era’ days. But it seems that was way too much to hope for.
‘Hollywhite’ is hopelessly forever trapped in the mindset of the dark continent (Africa) as a place where exotic, interesting creatures live and where you will find happy-go-lucky darkies always ready and willing to make white tourists feel at home. The black representation in these movies is usually some sinister presence that white people have to rescue themselves from – preferably a white female, because you know how black men from the jungle just can’t wait to get their hands on a white woman. Those of you who have seen that famous C. Thomas Howell movie from the 80’s will get what I’m talking about. Or they are the smiling jovial tour guide that obviously has nothing better to do with their life than lay around expecting a white person to show up eventually. I can’t tell which bullshit is more insulting, being ignored completely as if 4 legged beasts are the end all be all to a land’s purpose or being seen as window dressing for white eyes.
Neither one sounds the least bit appealing to me, but it must have been very enticing for the actors involved, including my man, the extremely funny Terry Crews, who has once again sold his soul to the ‘Hollyweird’ devil for a paycheck. Black actors in Hollywood desperately need a crash course in the word shame, because they haven’t got one clue about the meaning of that word or the word ‘pride’, cause that gets forgotten pretty quick according to the roles they choose.
I have also had my fill of those worthless, pretentious, condescending flicks like “I Dreamed of Africa” starring Kim Bassinger and Vincent Perez where white people travel to this far off beautiful land in an effort to find themselves while they look longing at the sun set on the shoreline. GAWD!
Please ‘Hollowood’, stop informing us that Africa exists solely so white folks can make some arrogant path to self-discovery and awareness while they happily frolic with joyous natives without a care in the world. Since when did Africa become a destination where only white people get to take the journey as if, Lord forbid, ‘Hollyweed’ ever show black folks who weren’t born there taking a trip to that land.
That’s another thing. I’m no geology expert, but last time I checked, Africa was a continent made up of several different countries. It isn’t one entity unto itself. So, not only do white people in ‘Hollywitless’ disregard the citizens of said place, but they have the temerity to not even acknowledge the actual make-up of the landscape. Right, who needs to bother with such petty details since it’s just a bunch of Negroes running round without clothes anyway? Why bother showing them or their kind any respect?
As much as I’d like to give crap to Hollywood for all the misconceptions about Africa, they aren’t the only ones to blame. Ignorance comes from several different factions, including black people themselves. There is that flat out bullshit lie that born and bred African natives supposedly hate their American counterparts. While filming in Zaire for the film “Ali” based on the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, star Will Smith said that he was shocked to see a young woman there driving a BMW. Apparently instead of checking things for ourselves and looking up our history on our own, we choose to rely on the propaganda spread from history books written by white males. They certainly aren’t going to tell a very flattering story about the planet’s supposedly most inferior people.
This is precisely why the powers-that-be who make movies think that it’s ok to keep chugging out tripe like “Blended” or that nightmare starring Richard Dreyfuss some years back called “Krippendorf’s Tribe”. I, for one, won’t spend one penny to see this flick, nor will I watch it on cable or stream it on Netflix. If we actually want to completely put a stop to the bigots of the big screen mocking and insulting us, then there is no better way than by withholding our money and NOT supporting this mess.
I don’t know if this film will be a hit or not. I hope it’s not, and judging from the commercials, I highly doubt that it will be. What I do know is that when we as black folks say we aren’t going to tolerate it with our wallets that most likely will send the most potent message. I’m all for freedom of expression and artistic license, but this goes far beyond that. There is no place for stupidity ruling over common sense and for idiots in Hollywood to keep telling us what type of image represents us best. That’s for me to decide, not them, and the only thing this movie seems to showcase is how predictable and lazy writers are that they continue to hire.
There is an old and wise saying that goes “The only way for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing”. Well, I say the only way we can have dignity from assholes in Hollywood is by not endorsing their crappy ass product with our dollars. Unless, any of us truly want to be thought of as some attraction at the zoo.

The mainstream media has a funny definition as to what constitutes as “newsworthy”. It seems with all of its liberalism in news reporting, it shows that it can as racist as the conservative noise machine that is FOX News, albeit less obvious.
Several weeks ago, the internet learned of the kidnapping of more than 230 girls in Nigeria. Soon after, online news outlets, blogs and social media came out to address this crisis. It even gave birth to the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls. Even First Lady Michelle Obama got in on the movement.
The mainstream media has not been reliable in covering this story. It seemed it had other priorities such as the Korean ferry disaster and the missing Malaysian plane. While both are indeed tragedies, why wasn’t the kidnapped Nigerian girls covered or, at least, covered in depth as the other two stories?
To make matters worse, the media literally jumped all over the story of Donald Sterling and his racist conversations with his mistress, and it became a top issue that reopened the conversations of racism at high levels of economic power. The media participated lighting flames in the firestorm lit by the dominant force in celebrity trash reporting TMZ.
Of course, most news outlets seem to follow TMZ as if it was the oracle of the private lives of Hollywood’s shining stars, ready to pounce at a chance to catch them make fools out of themselves. And it seems hellbent in searching any and all signs of black pathology perpetrated by black athletes and black actors more so than they do with famous whites. What did you expect from a company that took a poll asking what should black people be referred as? (Guess which one of the choices were.)
Case in point, recently, the most popular celebrity news going around is the infamous hotel elevator fight when video cameras recorded Beyonce’s little sis Solange attacking Jay-Z. Naturally, TMZ was the first ones to obtain the footage. And in literally no time, after it was reported by TMZ, it because a sensational topic on almost all news outlets. It’s still trending on Twitter creating memes for cheap laughs.
The mainstream news media took almost a month before they went in on the story of the missing Nigerian girls, especially after social media made it a topic. However, it took the same media no less than a week to latch on to TMZ’s coat tails to report the Jay-Z/Solange fight. What does that say about how our media views today’s issues?
It’s a safe bet to conclude that famous people fighting is considered ‘news’ by a media cheapened by lazy reporting, especially if it always cites TMZ as its only primary source. But it gets worse. We live in an age where black folks, rich and famous and poor and disenfranchised, throwing blows on someone is extremely attractive to watch. In many cases, that is considered ‘news’. Worse still is that it gets more attention than news of black folks doing good deeds, engaging in acts of kindness and heroism or are excelling in certain avenues other than music and sports. And when we go missing, who cares? Negroes were fighting – again! That’s news!
It’s natural that humans love to watch a good throw-down. Black people are not above watching or participating. But let’s be real. Race always plays a factor in how it’s viewed just as much as race plays a role in who deserves urgent attention in cases of missing persons.
