R.I.P. Chuck Barris

From the NY Times:

Chuck Barris, the “Gong Show” creator, songwriter and novelist who sought to add to his already eclectic résumé with a made-up — or was it? — story about being an assassin for the C.I.A., died Tuesday in Palisades, N.Y. He was 87.

Mr. Barris died of natural causes, said Paul Shefrin, his publicist, according to The Associated Press.

  1. The Gong Show was hilarious. There was a comic on the show called “the unknown comic.” That told the worst jokes that were so awful they were funny.

  2. I actually thought that Chuck died many moons ago. Wow,.some celebreties know how to stay out of the spot light really well.

Who could forget The Gong Show and Chuck’s nonchalant way of talking? As a kid, I thought it was funny and couldn’t believe how some of them folks was gonged from the show..lol! The Gong Show was an old version of America’s Got Talent.

I’m sorry to hear about his death.

  3. I am still cackling remembering the unknown comic with the brown paper bag over his head and telling those awful jokes. That gag was just too crazy . Fond memories sitting in my house as a teen laughing at this foolishness.
