R.I.P. Ron Glass

Ron Glass, a prolific TV actor known for playing Ron Harris in the sitcom “Barney Miller” and Shepherd Derrial Book in “Firefly,” has died. He was 71.

The actor’s rep confirmed the death to Variety, but had no further details regarding the cause or location.

Glass was born in Evansville, Ind. and went on to study drama and literature at the University of Evansville. He began his career in Hollywood in episodes of “Sanford and Son,” “Hawaii Five-O” and “All in the Family” in the early ’70s.

    Oh wow! I’d been following his career since Barney Miller. Yep, I’m old enough to remember not being old enough to be allowed to watch that show.
    Last thing I watched with Ron was Firefly. Time for a Firefly / Barney Miller marathon, I guess.

    I remember him from “Barney Miller”. He was in thus movie in the 90s called “Unbowed” and noticed how he had aged so gracefully!

  3. I remember looking at Barney Miller ,then he stared on a couple of episodes of Good Times. He was always calm, cool and collected until the day he died.

    RIP to Ron.
