The graphic series USU will not debut this week due to technical difficulties. The series will be upload online as soon as possible. I’m sorry for any inconveniences. Click on the link above to visit the official blog site.
If you have a twitter account, you’ve probably heard of this. If not and you haven’t heard, there’s an ongoing twitter cascade of tweets with a certain hashtag within it’s 140 character space box. #blackprivilege has been tweeted hundreds – perhaps thousands of times by people from all over the world describing what it means to be black in a white dominated and influenced society in just a few words.
What brought this on? From my understanding it was a response to a Tumblr page called This Is Black Privilege. The page was created by a white woman (she claims she’s mostly Native American) who believe, “there is a privilege to every other race whether it be prevalent or not.” Her limited list, which had posting from June 8th to the 13th of last year, has caught the attention of someone on Twitter, and the rest is tweet history.
This is her background as illustrated in a few responses to just as many outraged viewers:
I’m 22. I’ve taken college classes on the psychology of racism and African studies. I’ve also taken classes on anthropology and basic history classes, as well as African history. I’ve grown up within a community where whites were the minority as well as communities with a definite ruling white supremacy.
I’ve taken many classes on black history, grew up in Alabama in an area dominated by blacks, my bestfriends and boyfriends were ALL black until I turned 18, my cousins are black, I listen to hiphop created mostly by blacks (not only listen, but I collect shirts, tapes, records), and I actually believed I was part black proof of my ethnicity surfaced when I turned 19.
So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. She has a Masters in blackology, and a Ph. D in BS.
Here are three of her revered points, along with my responses. To list them all and respond to them would end up having me write a book:
Black privilege means being publicly admitted that blacks are superior to whites in certain pursuits (i.e. basketball). It can never be publicly admitted that whites are superior to blacks in other pursuits (i.e. winning Nobel prizes in science).
I have never known any black person declare that they are superior in any pursuit, especially in sports. Yet, white folks have professed their belief that black people are talented in strength and agility. To this day, it is thought that blacks are genetically wired to run faster and jump higher due to having a “jungle” heritage. Although, there is no scientific evidence that blacks are better athletes, there are people, mostly whites, who take it with a grain of salt.
Also in this woman’s claim is the latent myth of white superiority in intelligence when she said, “It can never be publicly admitted that whites are superior to blacks in other pursuits (i.e. winning Nobel prizes in science).” What is it with white people thinking a few white eggheads make the whole race a group of geniuses? Those who pull this card must not be having a winning hand, but I digress.
The other myth about blacks when it comes to athletes is that what they excel in strength and speed, they lack heavily in intelligence. Black athletes are the poster children of the dumb jock image. To this day, any mishap a black athlete does is bedeviled by the sport media and it’s loyal fans. The words “stupid” and “dumb” appear a number times in comment sections along with the egregious n-word.
Her point is that white people can never admit how superior they are in any and all vocations and fields without being labeled a racist. Um, Mr. Obvious says that it is racist. White supremacy is built on the myth that whites are the superior branch of the human race. Racism is the social construct spawned from this myth to make it as true as possible, to make sure whites go to the top and stay there and everyone else below them.
Her point also makes an assumption that such an accolade exists. There is no such thing as the Nobel price for science. It is sectioned into six categories: Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Economics, and Physiology and Medicine. And I can tell you there is a list of black Nobel prize winners. This doesn’t mean we’re a race of geniuses either, but they do show that color does not determine talent in any certain field.
Black privilege means growing up with the idea of racial identity and pride, yet racial pride in whites constitutes a grave evil. Say ‘I’m white and I’m proud’ and you are a National Socialist.
I discussed this in an old post a couple of years ago, and I will stick to it.
White pride comes in the form of hatred for people of color (POC) and non-Christians. When you see those who scream “White power!” for instance, you will always see them in white sheets with pointed hoods waving confederate and Nazi Germany flags giving Nazi salutes. You will hear their call for whites to unite against the threat of POC, Jews and Muslims. They are the people who will supposedly orchestrate the annihilation of the “pure Anglo-Saxon/European/Aryan race.”
Those who parade around advertising their “white pride” are usually openly racist pricks, and most of them are proud of it. Most of them are a part of a hate group with white supremacist ideals, and most of them are heavily linked to Nazism. I have yet to hear a white person say how proud they are to be white without some white racist doctrine following it.
Black privilege is segregating yourself more, but yelling at white people for it.
A large majority of blacks segregate themselves even to the point of keeping themselves in the ghettos. Music made by a lot of rappers of color even condone the ghetto, making it look cool, to basically be segregated.
It’s funny because I made a tweet about this the other day about how white people think rappers represent the sentiments of the black community. Anyway, this female demonstrates the usual white mentality of rejecting true history and avoid accountability. She wants you to think that black people separate themselves from whites because they plain don’t like them. And they can’t imagine why.
Let’s see. Segregation, began after the 13th Amendment was ratified ending slavery as they knew it. However, with the creation of Jim Crow laws and Black Codes, segregation between whites and blacks was strictly enforced. Such laws were concocted after the end of the Reconstruction period leading to the infamous Plessy v. Ferguson ruling in which most of the United States Supreme Court upheld the doctrine of ‘Seperate but Equal’.
Segregation was in effect from the late 1800s to the mid-to-late 1900s after the Civil Right Movement. However, although segregation was deemed ‘unconstitutional’ institutional wise, the spirit still haunts America. Some white people fear whenever black people move into their mostly white neighborhoods. There is always the suspicion of the possibility of crime occurring. As such, some whites move out, especially if more blacks move in, and some whites will use whatever means to drive black people out.
Sometimes a black person doesn’t have to live in a white community to be intimidated to leave a certain area. Blacks can be driven out of places of businesses, parks and schools. The message is clear, “We don’t want you darkies in our lily white neighborhoods.” So, many of us have no choice but to stay on our side of the fence. Why go where we are not wanted?
As for the crack about rappers condoning ghettos, I had to laugh at this. She obviously is not very good at complex thinking if she uses the mainstream media as a reference. Sadly, she is one of many. Television to them is a religion.
People like her don’t realize that music execs and staff have the final word on what is said and what gets passed. Sometimes the songs that get a green light from the industry are when rappers glorify impoverished living conditions. For some rappers, they places they call home. It is the only home they know.
Yet, such songs easily influence people on the general perception of blacks living in ghettos. They, like the owner of the Tumblr page, actually believe poor blacks love to live poor and struggling. They are also not bright enough to consider that it is part of a marketing tool to sell the image of blacks who think poverty is – as she puts it – cool. And many white people will assume that it is the fault of community members why they’re poor to begin with.
I would call this woman a completely ignorant yutts, but that would conflate her ignorance is innocence. There is nothing innocent about racism, and her Tumbr page is racist. It shifts the causes of problems black people face back onto them. And it paints white people as the real victims for having their privileges always examined. It doesn’t matter if this is a white, straight male dominated society. To her, all groups of people, even marginalized oppressed people, have privileges that are just as unfair.
In response Twitter members tweeted countless examples where black privilege is a drop in the bucket compared to white privilege. But, being that the owner of This is Black Privilege hasn’t been active on her page in about a year, she must’ve got the memo that her fight was powerless and gave up long before someone knew about her page. Her attempt to focusing on a non-issue brought on an online movement of epic proportions, a movement where people of African descent are coming out to shout to the world “We matter!” in 140 characters or less.

Seven times more people have died in Christian wars: 113.8 million compared to the 16.4 million who died in Muslim wars.
There are more Christians, but only about 50% more, nothing like seven times more.
Western history is Eurocentric, so we know more about wars in Christian lands than in Muslim ones. But not for wars since 1900, and there the imbalance is even worse: 73.3 million compared to 4.4 millon – 17 times more dead in Christian wars.
The students from the small town in rural south Georgia called attention to their efforts by starting a Facebook page that has more than 24,000 “likes.” The “Integrated Prom” page says it represents a group of adamant high school seniors” who “want to make a difference” in their community.
“For the first time in the history of our county, we plan to have an integrated prom,” the Facebook page’s description reads.
“At first, we had a whole bunch of students who you could tell that wanted to support it, but they were too scared to stand out and stand against, not their peers, but their parents,” student Brandon Davis told Democracy Now. “But as times progressed we’ve had more and more students change come help us out — and we’ve actually had more parents. At first, parents were like, ‘Well, that’s tradition, let’s just stay it this way.’ But after time, their children changed and they were like, ‘Hey, I’m going to support my children, this is their memory, Lets go.’”
Congress signed off on ICWA in 1978—but only after four years of grueling legislative hearings and reviews. Natives and their allies fought long and hard to convince lawmakers to enact a policy to curb what were disturbingly high adoption rates of Native children to white parents.
At the time, about a third of Native children were fostered and adopted into white families; in states like Minnesota that have large Native populations, 90 percent of Native adopted children were raised in non-Native homes. These adoptions, which severed tribal community ties, fundamentally jeopardized Native nations’ ability to continue to exist. The passage of ICWA was a seminal victory in halting that trend.
The law makes clear a crucial distinction: State courts lack jurisdiction over the adoption of Native children. It recognizes instead that tribal governments hold that jurisdiction, and are best suited to decide Native children’s adoption, regardless of whether the child in question is born on or off reservation land. ICWA has been challenged unsuccessfully in the past 35 years, but a ruling that denies Brown’s parental rights in this case could signal the start of the historic law’s dismantling.
Members of UC Irvine’s Asian-American fraternity Lambda Theta Delta put their racial ignorance on display last week when they released a video of a student wearing blackface. The college community, which caught wind of the video this week when a YouTube user reuploaded the deleted video, is predictably outraged.
The video includes four Asian-American men dancing to Justin Timberlake’s “Suit and Tie” to promote the spring induction of the fraternity’s new recruits. One man in blackface plays the part of Jay-Z. It is the very definition of bad taste. I watched as much of it as I could stomach and cringed during the worst of it.
Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) put it best; “‘hip-hop” is just shorthand for ‘black people.’” Before our eyes and ears, a “web of business relationships that now defines America’s media and culture” has one particular business raking in billions of dollars while another defines the culture of a specific demographic as criminal. Both business are owned by the same people. Mainstream media continue to endorse hip-hop that glorifies criminality (most notably drug trafficking and violence), and private prison interests, long since proven to value profits over human rights, usher in inmates of color to meet capacity quotas. The same people disproportionately incarcerated when exposed to the criminal justice system are at every turn inundated with media normalizing incarceration to the point that wherever there is mainstream hip-hop music, reference to imprisonment as an ordinary, even expected, component of life is sure to follow.
The following is based on Rippa’s article entitled “Dear White America: Tamerlan and Dzhokhat Tsarnaev are White; Deal With It”.
When it was revealed that the terrorists behind the bombings in Boston were from Chechnya and were literally Caucasian, an expected push to distance the rest of White America took place. The mere thought of terrorism by whites is scarey enough, but I will take a step further and say that bad white behavior is something many white people can’t stomach.
White privilege already bestowed individuality to whites caught in bad behavior. They are considered exceptions to the cosmic rule of generic white goodness, and are also seen as a small minority within the overall white population. So, the premise is that white people are basically peaceful and kind towards everyone by default. Any argument against it is wrong, deceitful and racist.
However, people of color behaving badly is the rule. Muslims and Arabs who do not consider any form of terrorism are exceptions. Those that do are true representatives of their religions and culture, according to the white racial frame. The notion of good and evil are flip-flopped when color – and in this case religion – is injected, and a double standard is made.
But, to many white people, this is not a double standard, let alone racist. It is fact, or so the usual argument goes. White people are never to be called out on their misbehavior ever. To do so is racist.
To any white person who is already seething at this post, let me stop you right there. I am not saying that all white people are evil and destructive or that all the problems of the world are caused by your people. What I am saying is to get over yourselves and stop whining.
The two young males responsible for the chaos in Boston are white, at least one of them is because the other is dead. White people can be driven to commit such horrendous crimes just like anyone else. There is a long list of white males who’ve committed acts of terror, at least in recent history. Yet, the honor of being called a ‘terrorist’ always go to Arabs or Muslims.
When a white person does go insane and harm as many people as possible before either getting caught or killed, why is the mental illness and tragic upbringing explanations only reserved for them? On top of that, why is it when a white person screws up it’s the fault of nonwhite cultures, like hip-hop, or non-Christian religions? Why don’t we do what we do with nonwhites and not blame mental illness, their environments or society? Why not just call it white pathology and be done with it?
I know. We can’t, because that’s racist.
So, hip-hop will be blamed, again. Islam will be blamed, again. But blaming whiteness? Unacceptable. White folks fear that they could have inner demons.

A lot of shit went down in the Boston area on the week of April 15. A couple of pressure cooker bombs went off at the Boston Marathon, injuring hundreds and filling a few. It wasn’t long soon after that police engaged the suspects in a violent battle. One of the suspects was killed along with a police officer. The other was shortly apprehended unharmed.
As tragic as the bombings and the hunt for the suspects were, it was not the only thing that was wrong during that troubling week. The news media not only spun it into a conspicuous wonder you may only find in Hollywood, but they pulled no punches on letting their racist assumptions on who the suspects are take flight. To add insult to injury, many people took to net (mainly twitter) to express their hypocritical moral outrage. Suffice to say, the words ‘sand nigger, towel heads’ and the usual animosity towards Obama appeared hundreds of times.
Colorlines goes indepth with how CNN’s own John King got it wrong with his infamous “dark-skinned suspect” and the reaction that followed:
CNN correspondent John King took to Twitter to offer more context on how he ended up reporting that a suspect, described as a “dark-skinned man” had been arrested in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing. CNN ran with King’s “exclusive news” of the “dark-skinned” suspect for an hour until they announced their report turned out to be false.
“Source of that description was a senior government official. And I asked, are you sure? But I’m responsible,” King tweeted on Thursday evening. “What I am not is racist.”
Even the FBI released a statement asking journalists to be more thorough because his action lead to real world effects.
But that’s not all, as Colorlines made note:
In one of the most widely circulated collection of images, a young man was singled out as a suspect because he was wearing a backpack, alone and brown. On the image, posted on 4chan, “alone” and “brown” were written in all caps. Subsequently, the website Reddit wrongly fingered a missing South Asian student from Brown University as the suspect—for which they, rightfully, later apologized.
One should not expect the right wing media not to join in on the fun of playing ‘Find the Muslim/Arab Terrorist’ that their liberal counterparts were engaged in. Some were so impetuous to find any link between the suspects, who turned out to originally be from the former Soviet nation of Chechnya, and the Muslim world who, as many of them would say, despises America’s “freedoms”. As you may recall, one of the injured, a Saudi Arabian, was considered a suspect.Yet, conservative media wants him tried and convicted.
But after all assumptions from the news room were exhausted, the news named their suspects. One of them was 17 year-old Salah Barhoun who turned out to be completely innocent. Another suspect was Sunil Tripathi, who would later be reported to be a missing Brown University student, also turned out to be innocent. The third suspect was Mike Mulugeta who – of course – was falsely identified.
In the end, the suspects turned out to be two brothers from Chechnya Tamarlan (the older of the two who was murdered by police) and Dzokhar Tsarnaev.
Despite the suspects were quite literally Caucasian – in the U.S. they’re white males, after they were identified by a quick-to-conclusion news media, people were still looking for the Muslim/Arab terrorists responsible! Many people still believed that the Boston bombing was the committed by Muslim extremists. They wasted no time when news broke out to take to the computer to let the world know how much they resent Muslims and Arabs sticking to racial epithets and blaming President Obama while praising George W. Bush via 9/11.
It must noted that both brothers were indeed Muslim, but that doesn’t mean they were apart of an extremist network. Yet, to most Americans ‘Muslim’ and ‘Islam’ are associated with ‘terrorism’. And even if it turns out they were a part of a group – the media will be more than happy to make that known – it will paint the Islamic community with one solid color of violent anti-Americanism with no explanation other than “hating this country’s freedoms”.
Another thing that was expected from all this was how it impacted politics in regards to immigration reform. Buzz Feed reports:
Ranking Senate Judiciary Committee member Chuck Grassley warned Friday that Congress must take into account the events in Boston this week when working on comprehensive immigration reform to ensure “those who would do us harm do not receive benefits under the immigration laws.”
As a chaotic, frantic, and violent hunt for a suspected bomber unfolded in Boston, the Iowa Republican pointed to the situation during the committee’s first hearing on a new comprehensive immigration bill. Grassley argued consideration of the issue is important “especially in light of everything that’s happening in Massachusetts now.”
In his opening statement, Grassley also argued the Boston terror case can help strengthen immigration reform since “it will help shed light on the weaknesses in our system … [and] how can we beef up security checks on people who would enter the United States.”
So many things went wrong with how the bombing was perceived by the media and its audience. So many assumptions were used. So much racial and religious hatred was on display. And so much fear was felt by many communities. I still wonder if this will result in a call for war against Chechnya? I also wonder if this will revitalize the red scare of the last century. If so, Joe McCarthy will dance in his grave.
One thing is a given, however. The two brothers will join the ranks of the crazy-ass, white male psychotics who’ve killed many people in their fascination with bombs and weapons and resentment towards mankind. And, they will all be immune to racial stereotyping thanks to white male privilege. But, on that same token, their religion will -once again – be declared a threat to America’s safety and values. Their whiteness will hardly be regarded as a Pathology, as usual.

It seems that lately neither Chris Brown, nor his on-again, off-again, one-time girlfriend singing star Rhianna can take a piss or pick their nose without the media yacking about it incessantly. Now granted, that is due in a very large part to his assault on her in 2009, but give me a fucking break!
The media doesn’t give a rat’s ass about black females any other time. So don’t pretend like you ‘care’ so much about her. And most certainly, DON’T act like you are so outraged about the issue of domestic violence when you give countless white male celebrities a free pass for hitting women. As a matter of fact, New York news anchor Rob Morrison very recently found himself in some super- hot water when he was accused of choking his wife Veronica who busted up his nose with a remote control to stop him from possibly killing her. Yet, once again when a white male is guilty of the behavior racially reserved of a black male in the news media, that gets crickets from the white and black media.
I have also noticed that happy black couples like Jay-Z and Beyonce or Spike Lee and his wife Toya don’t get nearly as much attention. Well, I just can’t even begin to imagine why that is. Could it be that whites – as usual – love to point out when things are going bad for black folks as if it never happens with them? I know one thing that very rarely – if ever – does happen with white people and that is having a loved one murdered right before your eyes by a stupid, reckless cop.
A seven year-old girl named Aiyana Jones was viciously gunned down by a police officer who claimed that the girl’s grandmother had initiated a physical altercation with him, and the gun just happened to go off, striking Aiyana. I tell you a lot of cops should be writers, because they can come up with better fairytales than either Frank L. Baum or Lewis J. Carroll. As it turns out the cops involved weren’t even at the right address then they tried to slander the family by implying that they were a bunch of ghetto, drug dealing thugs harboring a wanted suspect. Now, I don’t know this family personally, and I especially don’t know this woman who is supposed to have gotten into a fight with an officer causing her own granddaughter to be shot and killed. But, I do know that cops are notorious liars when it comes to their overly excessive physical force and a subsequent dead black body.
I don’t just take anything cops say with a grain of salt. I take it with a salt dome big enough to cover ten city streets! However, the death of a little black child doesn’t register enough for high minded Negroes or the white liberal media elite. The same white people in the media who claim to be so ‘down’ with us darkies, yet do absolutely nothing to prove it, such as show one itty, bitty shred of outrage for Aiyana, but they sure seem to have a buttload of concern for Rhianna though. Maybe, as always, they don’t really give a shit about her, just that it gives them the opportunity to paint a young black male celebrity as a brutal thug all while being completely oblivious to white males who do the same thing, or innocent black citizens dying left and right at the hands of police. I mean seriously how many bodies have to pile up before they say anything on the matter?
That goes triple for those high minded Negroes who obviously care more about making sure gay white people have rights, and whining every 5 minutes about how much they can’t stand Lil Wayne and why hip-hop/rap music is the scourge that causes every problem in the black community. You mean even the cops who shoot first while nobody, including you, gives a damn about asking them questions later?
Those oh-so-liberal white people sure have no problem focusing on violence in black communities when it’s black people hurting each other, but throw a cop into the equation, and they scatter like roaches when a light flips on at midnight, especially a white cop, because they seem to have this belief that any time a black person is harassed or has an altercation with a white cop, they must have been at fault. White cops are there to protect and serve don’t you know, and they are all law abiding, completely 100% objective folks with not one racist bone in their body.
Actually, now that I think about it, it’s white people in the media who can come up with the best fairytales. They can also make it appear that they really truly care about the plight of a well- known beloved black female entertainer, despite all the times that they happily ignore stories about crimes against black women like a child who will never get to be an adult, a wife, mother, doctor, the first lady or the first female president in history. The point is who knows what this little girl could have grown up to become. She will be forever deprived of the chance to grow and have a life, and the people who come off like they care so much will not spend one minute caring once the story gets too old.
That’s because if you are black and not famous your story won’t last very long on the nightly news. I am convinced that the only reason young teen Hadiya Pendleton’s story even got air time at all was because she performed at a benefit for President Barack Obama. Otherwise, she would be nothing to them but another statistic, which is exactly what the utterly senseless death of Aiyana Jones has become to the very ones who are supposed to care the most.

I’m not certain if any of the readers or regulars here are avid watchers of the syndicated Dr. Phil show hosted by noted psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw. Well, I’m not either.
I just happened to stumble on an episode where he was interviewing Bethany Storro. For those not in the know, Storro is a white woman from Canada who scarred her own face with acid then blamed it on a supposed black female assailant. I think very few people here were surprised when Storro turned out to be a lying little phony who could have gotten an innocent black woman in trouble for her crime. Yet, instead of facing a well- deserved punishment, such as jail time or even community service, Storro is allowed to wallow in self-pity. On top of that, she victimize herself once again by claiming mental illness, thereby absolving her of any fault or guilt even though she is a sneaky manipulative liar.
This heffa even has the absolute nerve trying to capitalize on her bullshit by writing a book and pretending that she is ‘sorry’ for what she has done. Yeah, and I’m going to be the next Mrs. Barack Obama, because there’s just no way he’ll want to stay with Michelle after he meets me and we fall desperately in love.
Call me a cynic, but I buy that about as much as I think there is truly a Loch Ness creature in Scotland. She isn’t the least bit remorseful, but she is a stupid, arrogant, overprivileged asshole. Then, in typical requisite fashion, a douchebag like Dr. Phil invites her on his crappy ass self-serving show and behaves as if she should have no personal accountability.
Earth to Dr. Prick, she is NOT a child nor is she a victim. Storro did this to herself to get attention by using the oldest lie in white people’s handbook. It’s bad enough that this c**t had people believing her, but now, she’s even got those same people defending her by saying she’s a victim of circumstances. Yeah, dumbass. The one she created all on her own! If he or she expects for even one-half a second that she will get any sympathy from me, then think again.
Don’t you just love how the same folks who whine about the race card and taking responsibility for your actions have the most difficulty practicing what they preach? That brings me to the actor formerly known as rapper LL Cool J aka James Todd Smith, or as I like to call him, King Moron. Instead of Mr. Smith going to Washington, he went to a very dark and bad place in musicdom. There is a big controversy brewing because of a recent song duet that LL did with country music star Brad Paisley called “Accidental Racist”. The title alone completely raised a red flag for me. So, I’m not the least bit caught off guard that this so-called song is a big steaming pile of dog doo.
Okay, how the fuck is it an ‘accident’ to be racist in the first place? Racism is a choice, just like picking out a tie to wear or what movie to go see. It’s forced upon the other person. Not you. But, the message whiny asshole Brad is saying is that he, like a lot of white folks, are sick of being blamed for racism by default. The whiners say that it’s not their fault what happened 150 years ago. So, why are they still getting blamed.
It appears that many of those bratty little snots need math classes just as much as they need history classes. Maybe you dummies are still getting blamed because oh I don’t know, racism is still alive and well?! And still, so many in this country trying to deny the part that they play in it, the main one being that you don’t think it’s exist anymore. Au contraire Mon fraire, I guess Paisley is too stupid to notice how he is ironically proving their point with this whack ass song.
Most therapists will tell you that denial is a key sign to addiction, because that’s what addicts use to refuse to acknowledge that there is actually a problem. In the case of Paisley his addiction is to his own arrogance and privilege. He figures that if the problem is ignored long enough, then it’s not there. Well those of us who have to deal with the prejudice that he won’t admit to every day don’t have that luxury. Even fools like Mr. James Smith, who white people will parade as their ‘see-this-Negro-thinks-there’s-nothing-wrong-too’, get away scot free with racism card.
The worst and most ridiculous part of this is that Smith is also trying to absolve himself of criticism by saying he ‘gets’ why there are black people offended. Well, if that’s the case, then what he really needs to get is a clue. Oh screw it! NEGRO PLEASE!
As Bill Cosby once said on his classic 80’s TV show, “you’re not that stupid, you’re not that stupid.” But as far as LL is concerned, he IS that stupid, especially when he tries to defend this ratchet ass tune. I get that there are some black people who will say that racism is not to blame for all the ills of the black community. And they are right many things wrong with us have nothing to do with race but there are countless issues we face that are a direct result of decades of institutionalized racism.
That is something that can’t be denied or defended particularly when you don’t live in the insulated world of an African-American celebrity who, most of the times themselves, if the stories that we read are true aren’t really that shut off from bigotry either. They come across it daily just like the rest of us maybe even more so because they are public figures and subject to more scrutiny. Which is why people like him should be a hell of a lot more mindful about what type of message it is that he is conveying. Not to say that I am letting Paisley off the hook. Though like a lot of other black folks on the internet (*cough* Average Bro *cough*), he’s worse than Mr. Smith, because he is hiding behind his cloak of privilege. Instead of saying something like, “Yeah, what my ancestors did was messed up on every level but hopefully I can do better, be a better person and set a more positive example.” No, he did exactly what his ancestors have done for years, and that is play the role of egotistical, selfish, self-righteous bully.
His very attitude is the reason why racism has thrived and will continue to do so well past the point that people like him say that it has ended. You don’t get to lecture me on how I should react to your behavior. That’s for me to decide, not you. You also don’t get to tell black people to ‘get over it’ when it comes to racism while you nurture the very same mentality that created racism to begin with.

Brad Paisley is a well-meaning white: He thinks he means well, he thinks he is not racist – and yet when faced with the racism of his own actions, like wearing the Confederate flag, he defends it. He does not question himself or current White Southern opinion. He cannot: that would blow his cover of white innocence. Instead he sees blacks as oversensitive – as seen in his talk of “walkin’ on eggshells”. And, like most well-meaning whites, he puts racism mostly in the past – “fightin’ over yesterday” – instead of right here, right now, in himself and his (mostly white) listeners.
White privilege is knowing that if the bomber turns out to be white, he or she will be viewed as an exception to an otherwise non-white rule, an aberration, an anomaly, and that he or she will be able to join the ranks of Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols and Ted Kaczynski and Eric Rudolph and Joe Stack and George Metesky and Byron De La Beckwith and Bobby Frank Cherry and Thomas Blanton and Herman Frank Cash and Robert Chambliss and James von Brunn and Robert Mathews and David Lane and Michael F. The Grand Jury report is gruesome, with Gosnell accused of operating a horror show, killing infants and at least one woman, and maiming many others. “It’s not your fault” if you haven’t heard about the Gosnell accusations, said Fox News analyst Kirsten Powers in a USA Today column, because “there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page”. Male writers at mainstream publications followed suit, implying that the lack of coverage was part of a pro-choice left-wing cover-up.
“It’s just something I was born to do. I love to serve people and I love education. In student government, the two merge together,” he said.
