Video: “Reagan” by Killer Mike

Believe me when I tell you that there is some rap out there that goes hard on the truth. It’s rare to hear that shit on the radio because (mainstream) radio is part of the corporate machine. That the reason why (a.) most of the music we hear on the radio nowadays is all about materialism, misogyny and violence, and (b.) it gets played several times a day and night.

This song is one of many that speaks the truth with a nice beat. And there are others like Killer Mike that is out there using their lyrics to enlighten and educate. Don’t you think they deserve praise and support for their efforts just like many of us idolize musicians who produce songs to help us “escape” from the harsh realities of our lives? Think about it.

  1. That’s enlightening. Need more music like that to educate the black youth and black America. Learn what the American government is all about. Knowledge is power. Ronald Reagan was a bastard.

  2. I think that’s a pretty accurate description of America under the Reagan administration. Him not giving a damn about poor people. Only the rich. Drugs were rampant in our communities and continue to be so. It’s consciousness music to educate and enilghten. But that is not something people want to embrace.

This why I rarely listen to the radio besides news and I don’t even depend on it for that.
Another reason maybe my age ,although I still listen to rap amongst the several other genres of music like Rock ,RnB ,Disco, etc
Current music in all of these genres is not like it was when I was growing up.
Also I need to post That article I read on how african american music is being specifically manipulated.
